The "Fractal Geometry" workshop
The "Fractal Geometry" workshop was organized by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications at the College of Science, Al-Nahrain University, as part of the scientific activities. The workshop was presented by Dr. Iman Abdulwahab Hussein in the presence of a group of faculty members from the department.
The workshop addressed the topic of fractal geometry and its role in describing the properties of shapes in nature, focusing on verifying the mathematical properties of certain shapes and natural phenomena, and attempting to explain them based on fractal properties, thereby connecting the learner to the surrounding world from a mathematical perspective. The workshop emphasized defining fractal geometry as irregular shapes composed of interlocking parts of varying sizes, indicating that it results from the repetition of nonlinear equations or the application of specific mathematical rules, in addition to the property of dividing the basic shape into smaller parts, each of which is a miniature version of it.
The workshop was characterized by the interaction of the attendees and their benefit from its content, which enhanced their understanding of the relationship between mathematics and nature, adding a new dimension to scientific perceptions in this field.
